NICEIC has introduced a solar photovoltaic (PV) course to support its Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for installers. The course provides electrical contractors with valuable knowledge and skills, covering the majority of small scale systems currently being installed in the UK. It will also give an overview of the design, installation, commission and service of solar PV systems.

The introduction of Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) has increased the uptake of PV, particularly as the payments are guaranteed for 25 years, and the market is expected to grow significantly over the next few years. “NICEIC is at the forefront in promoting microgeneration and we encourage all electrical contractors to get involved with this growing sector,” said Wayne Terry, head of energy and environment.
