Plans have been announced for what is described as Europe’s largest straw bale development, a £4m business park in Bradford due for completion in 2012.

Inspire Bradford Business Park will be built on a brownfield site close to Eccleshill Community Hospital in the east of the city and comprise two office buildings. The project is aiming for BREEAM Excellent, with the help of straw bale wall panels.

Other sustainable features include a groundsource heat pump and a rainwater havresting system, which will supply toilets and water for plants within the building. Photovoltaic cells in the roof will generate energy and recycled materials will be specified wherever possible.

Inspire Bradford Business Park will be owned and managed by the Newlands Community Association (NCA). The NCA is a community organisation based in East Bradford that provides a range of activities covering training, education, care and socialising across six separate locations.
