A taskforce dedicated to sustainable building will hold its first event as part of ecobuild next month. The newly formed Renewable Building group is independent, not-for profit and aims to set the agenda for a successful renewable construction industry in the UK.

During the exhibition, it will host a one-day workshop focusing on the role of materials in achieving sustainability. The workshop, Materials matter: can renewable building materials deliver better low-carbon building?, takes place on Thursday 4th March in the Whitehall Room at Earls Court.

A discussion forum will explore the environmental and performance benefits of bio-based building materials. The expert panel consists of academics and key players from the renewable building products sector with specific expertise on key issues such as breathability, internal air quality and embodied carbon.

John Williams and Gary Newman will introduce the sessions and the expert panel includes Neil May (Natural Building Technology), Prof David Robson, Mark Lynn (Second Nature Ltd), Craig White (White Design), Ian Pritchett (Lime Technology) and Barbara Jones (Amazonails).
