A Cumbrian school has been given an Adaptahaus extension. The steel framed, high performance building method is both sustainable and affordable and exceeds the current standards for energy and environmental requirements.

Developed by Alan Dawson, Ennerdale School has a prefabricated system which features precision made units with services built in ready for rapid erection and push fit connecting. The dry build concept is designed to reduce building costs yet improve build speed a key as the factory made sections are assembled on site with minimum labour. The whole project was completed in just six weeks.

Frames and panels were finished with Vinytherm Stonechip facings. Stonechip is designed to incorporate insulation if required, reducing noise and significantly reducing heating fuel bills.

The Adaptahaus system has appeared in television programme Grand Designs, where it enabled fast track construction to a high standard.
