A concrete SUDS solution will be unveiled by Lafarge Readymix at this year’s Ecobuild. Hydromedia is a permeable concrete that can deal with stormwater flooding, offering a pervious surfacing solution with a drainage capacity of between 150 to 1,000 litres per minute per m².

Glanville Norman, product development manager for Lafarge Readymix, explained: “Flooding due to urbanisation is one of the biggest problems facing the UK. The scale of the problem has been recognised and new developments must now have an acceptable surface water management solution in place before planning permission is given.

“Hydromedia is an effective, versatile and attractive solution. Unlike conventional concrete it has a high void content of between 20 and 35%. This allows surface water to drain through into the sub-strata and dissipate naturally, dramatically reducing the risk of flooding and water pollution.”

The product launch is one of a series from Lafarge at Ecobuild. For further information visit stands N1050 and N1040. For regular updates visit the company's Facebook page.
