Barry McCarthy, Apollo’s operations manager in Camden, said: “These electric cars will make a fantastic contribution to our energy efficiency on site and have the added advantage of an excellent safety record and capacity to carry up to four people. It will be great to see them being rolled out to other projects.”
The iOn has zero tailpipe CO2 emissions and takes a maximum of eight hours to charge from a domestic socket. It can run for up to 93 miles, depending on the driving conditions. Phil Robson, fleet director from Peugeot, said: “The iOn range could have been designed with Apollo’s London sites in mind. Not only does it have excellent credentials in reducing the impact of vehicle tailpipe CO2 emissions, but it is exempt from the London congestion charge and can park at no cost in some areas."
