Within the Code, homes are assessed using nine categories and awarded an overall score and the guide shows how Thermalite can assist in securing credits across the energy, materials and health and well-being areas.
Chris Hornby, head of product services at Hanson, said: “It is vital that the Code is interpreted into practical and easy to understand product guides allowing architects, specifiers and builders to make the most informed choice when it comes to selecting construction materials.
“With minimum standards that have to be met at every level of the Code, our guide not only sets out how the credits can be gained, providing detailed information on all of the sub-sections of the Code that apply to Thermalite, but also provides useful tips and practical examples.”
The blocks are made from up to 80% recycled materials and their light weight means that they can be laid more quickly, leading to productivity gains. In addition, by building using traditional materials in a ‘fabric first’ approach, developers can achieve cost-effective solutions to reaching Code Level 3 without the need for renewables.
