Thermal imaging company FLIR has published a guide to building and renewable energy. The 68-page publication gives the reader a thorough grounding on this subject, highlighting the role thermal imaging can play. The guide looks at typical building applications and the inspection of wind energy plant and solar panels. Choosing the right camera for the application is also considered, along with a detailed step-by-step guide to performing an effective thermal inspection with tips on application factors unique to these sectors.

In combination with application specific software, a FLIR thermal imaging camera allows the user to see the thermal effect of building construction faults, insulation failures and moisture ingress. Any problem areas are easily pinpointed in a single sweep of the camera, allowing appropriate remedial action to be taken.
