We've all heard stories of beautifully sustainable buildings rendered inefficient as soon as residents move in or a workforce takes over. The human factor is crucial to any green building, whether it's a zero-carbon newbuild home or an energy-efficient office refurbishment.

Getting people to change their behaviour is one of the hardest tasks ahead, particularly for the built environment who will increasingly have to monitor and evaluate the performance of buildings. This is why the inaugural Greenbuild awards, the winners of which will be announced on 9th May 2012, include a category for achievements in behavioural change.

This category of the Greenbuild awards is seeking entries from people who have worked on behavioural change projects that have helped to achieve the sustainable goals of a building, such as saving energy or cutting water usage, by engaging with building owners, staff or residents.

The awards are free to enter and further details are available at www.greenbuildawards.co.uk or by emailing lucy@greenbuildnews.co.uk. All shortlisted entries will be showcased at Greenbuild Expo on 9th and 10th May 2012 at Manchester Central.
