With the aim of making the scheme more straightforward, the government hopes to: ‘create a new leaner, simplified and refocused CRC’ and is asking for opinions and evidence from interested parties.
The consultation document is developed from feedback from stakeholders last summer and features specific bids to simplify the CRC.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) will be holding consultation events in London and Manchester. Details of these will be released here shortly.
The CRC, introduced in April 2010, is an obligatory UK trading scheme which aims to reduce emissions from large organisations in both the public and private sector by tax and reputation via the published CRC list.
