Free electric car charging stations are on offer to the leisure and hotel industry. Just over 200 stations have already been given away, with a further 800 still available.
Charity Zero Carbon World’s initiative aims to combat under use of electric cars by increasing the number of available charging points nationwide. Almost one third of consumers are currently put off from buying an electric car due to the lack of widespread charging stations, according to the Department for Transport.
Chris Hopkins, managing director of scheme installer Ploughcroft, said: “Over the next few years, businesses within the hotel and leisure sector need to be able to offer customers the added value service of being able to charge their vehicle whilst on the premises. With motor manufacturers investing billions in designing and producing innovative electric vehicles, consumer demand is set to soar in the future.”
