Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Building Research Establishment (BRE), Energy Saving Trust (EST) and Valliant Group will conduct the UK’s first independent research survey into heat pump performance.
EST has commissioned BRE to manage a metering scheme, which will provide the government with real installation data highlighting efficiency and performance. The data will be used to create tariffs for industry incentives and future policies, such as the Renewable Heat Premium Payment Phase II.
Vaillant has trained installers to fit the heat metering equipment as part of a series of events developed to encourage more installers to specialise in renewable technologies.
Jim Moore, managing director for Vaillant in Northern Europe, UK and Ireland, said: “Installing renewables is often seen as a big step for customers to take, and one of the main barriers that prevents people from taking the plunge is the up-front cost.
“Working with DECC, EST and BRE, our aim is to empower installers with the right heat pump training, and encourage the government to include heat pump future schemes to help homeowners with the capital costs.”
