Further consultations to renewable energy support levels have been announced by government. The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) will be engaging with industry on subsidy levels for large scale PV shortly. New evidence from the Renewable Obligation (RO) consultation suggests that Feed-in-Tariff rates as proposed in the consultation were too generous.
The RO consultation also alerted DECC to an increased interest in biomass generation. It said: “We will be consulting soon on a monitoring and review process for biomass co-firing and conversions to ensure effective cost control and on a supplier cap for dedicated biomass generation.”
